With over a decade of experience, Aden provides lessons from beginner to Diploma level. Several of his former pupils have gone on to study music at conservatoires and universities and gained places in the National Youth Orchestras of Great Britain and Scotland. An experienced pianist, Aden provides accompaniment for lessons, performances, and exams. In 2021, he established the ACO Youth Ensembles, which he continues to coordinate. Aden is heavily involved in the local music community and is a co-founder of Music Aberdeen, the Aurora Quartet and the Granite Ensemble. He has been the Leader of the Aberdeen City Orchestra since 2024 and is the pianist for Any Enemy, the North East New Music Ensemble.

Eleanor is a composer and teacher from Bury St Edmunds who works with students of all ages and abilities. She has taught music privately and in schools for the past 20 years. In her most recent post as a Teaching Fellow, she taught composition and harmony to undergraduate students at the University of Aberdeen. Ellie is an encouraging and engaging teacher who adopts a holistic approach to her lessons. She has a background in cathedral music and now sings with the University of Aberdeen Chamber Choir. As a composer, she writes primarily choral music, which has been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and performed throughout the UK, Europe, Australia, and in North America.

Catherine graduated from Aberdeen University with an MA (Hons) Degree in English Literature and Language and from Moray House, Edinburgh, with a PGTC in English and History. Since then, she has gained an MMus (Distinction) and diplomas in both Flute Teaching and Performance.
For a number of years, she taught general woodwind in various schools across the Highland region. From 2005 until 2019 Catherine worked at Aberdeen City Music School where she taught flute, and ran general History, History of Music and History of the Flute group tutorials. She also founded and directed a flute ensemble and a mixed chamber group whilst at the music school.
Currently, Catherine teaches flute at Aberdeen University and the North East of Scotland Music School where she established and is Director of the NESMS Flute Choir. She also works with University and NESMS students engaging in research and preparation of Diploma, Degree and Concert programme notes.
Catherine teaches flute and provides fortnightly group History/History of Music tutorials at the Wee Music School in Aberdeen. She also runs a thriving Private Practice teaching flute; piano; theory and History/History of Music.
In 2000, Catherine co-founded and played with the Merlewood ensemble and Highland Chamber Orchestra and, for a number of years, played with the Mahler Players and Inverness Choral Sinfonia. Now based in Aberdeenshire, she is the flautist with Any Enemy, a contemporary music group. She is also a member of Whispering Winds, an Aberdeen- based flute quartet and continues to perform freelance with various ensembles and as a soloist.
Catherine is a member of the NESMS’ Music Committee and is on the Board of Directors of Grampian Youth Orchestra. She has ISM membership.

A former pupil of Lesley Wilson at the then newly formed Aberdeen City Music School, Lucy was awarded a scholarship to study the bassoon under the tutelage of Martin Gatt, Andrea Die Flammineis and Julie Price at the Royal College of Music, London, where she gained both a Bachelor’s of Music with honours and a Master’s degree in Performance. During her studies Lucy developed a keen interest in contemporary music, and also chamber music. She spent some time at the Hochskule fur music und darnstell Kunst, Stuttgart on Erasmus exchange.
Upon finishing her studies, Lucy returned to Aberdeenshire and enjoys a varied career; teaching privately, at the University of Aberdeen, ACMS, NESMS and St Margaret’s School for Girls and also performing in local orchestras, the North East’s New Music Ensemble- Any Enemy, and in smaller chamber groups. In her spare time she enjoys making pots.

Emma hails from Northern Ireland and is a recent graduate of the University of Aberdeen with a First Class Bachelor of Music Degree. Emma spent much time alongside her studies tutoring A-level music and music theory before her move to Aberdeen in 2019. She now teaches violin and viola and hopes to continue her education and pursue a PhD in the coming years. Emma is an avid choral singer and a member of the University Chapel and Chamber choirs, alongside the Cathedral choirs of St Machars and St Andrews. She also plays with the Aberdeen City Orchestra, among other groups.

Originally from Elgin, Julie studied violin and piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, where she won the Hilda Bailey prize and Governor’s Recital prize. Julie has since freelanced with various orchestras such as Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, RSNO and the BBC SSO. Julie also teaches privately at her home in Stonehaven and at Moray Music Studio in Elgin. Julie has 30 years of teaching experience in various council and private schools. She also teaches viola and fiddle and plays regularly for weddings with string trios and quartets.

Jennifer is originally from Aberdeen and is a former member of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland.
Educated at Glasgow University and Iowa State University, USA, gaining a Bachelor of Music Honours degree in trumpet performance and composition and PGCE in secondary music education from Manchester Metropolitan University. From August 2000, she taught brass for Isle of Man Music Service for 14 years, 7 years as Head of Brass and Percussion. Jennifer conducted the Manx Youth Wind Orchestra and helped form the Manx Youth Swing Band. She was also principal trumpet and soloist with the Isle of Man Symphony Orchestra, Isle of Man Wind Orchestra and principal cornet of Rushen Silver Band.
In January 2014, Jennifer took up a post as brass instructor for Aberdeenshire Instrumental Music Service, becoming conductor of the Music Centre Big Band and percussion tutor for the Senior Concert Band and Senior Orchestra.
Since moving back to Aberdeen, she has played repiano cornet for Bon Accord Silver Band and was the conductor for Bon Accord Silver B Band for 9 years, including winning the 4th section Scottish Area Championships in 2024.

Originally from Gretna Green, Callum is a Percussion graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied with world-class Percussionists such as Le Yu, Kai Strobel and Dave Hassell. As an active performer, he enjoys working and collaborating with a range of artists across the music industry.
As a performer, Callum can be seen performing in a diverse range of musical settings, from solo recitals and orchestral work to depping as a session drummer. Some notable performances include “Credo in USA” where he performed alongside The Joby Burgess Percussion Collective, which featured repertoire such as John Cage’s ‘Credo in Us’ and Terry Riley’s ‘In C’. Callum has a diverse range of orchestral and solo repertoire from Mahler to Shostakovich Symphonies and has performed with the likes of RNCM Symphony Orchestra and the emerging Manchester Video Game Orchestra.
Callum moved to Aberdeen in 2023 and has since been working as a music educator, performing frequently in an original rock band and continues to dep with function bands and shows. He is involved with Sionnach Sound Studios, a rehearsal & recording space which is located in the centre of Aberdeen.

Hailing from the Jewel of Moray, Lossiemouth, Amy moved to Aberdeen to pursue a music degree at the University of Aberdeen and in 2023, she was awarded a Bachelors of Music with Honours.
She has experience teaching General Musicianship skills to primary and secondary school aged children. Amy has also taught in Nurseries for two years and is confident in creating engaging lessons for all ages of learners.

Anna has recently graduated from the University of Aberdeen with a Bachelors of Music Degree, studying clarinet under Yla Garvie. Through involvement in ensembles associated with the University and outwith Anna has grown to love Aberdeen’s music scene. In her hometown, Inverness, she had the opportunity to join St Ninian’s Youth Ensemble and help younger members get to grips with their instruments and the music. Using this aforementioned experience as well as the knowledge gained over the last 10 years of her tutelage, Anna looks forward to sharing her experience and enthusiasm for music.

Francesco started teaching violin in the early 2000s, then employed by Leeds City Council's music service for two years in schools and during Saturday classes/ensembles, then gaining training for the FE/HE sector and embarking in 2007 on a teaching career across East Berkshire College, Aberdeen College/NESCol, and Edinburgh College. He specialises in composition, studio skills, and DAWs, though he has also taught hundreds of students theory, group performance (classical and contemporary), and many other SQA units.
Francesco also helped starting SonADA (Sonic Arts Day Aberdeen), a music and sound art festival that ran in Aberdeen from 2014 to 2024 and produced festivals, workshops, international exchanges and funded opportunities for music/sound/contemporary art practice students and artists locally and further afield. He has also been an ICMA examiner since 2015 and has had a variety of roles as a performer in ensembles including the Inverurie Orchestra and others, as well as a soloist. He has also volunteered from 2020 to 2024 with ESTA UK in Scotland and organised physical and online workshops/opportunities for string teachers as well as regular meetings for members.

Jamie moved to Aberdeen from the Orkney Islands in 2021 and
has just completed his bachelor’s degree in music, with honours, at the
University of Aberdeen. He is a guitarist with ten years of experience, playing
a variety of styles on electric, acoustic and classical guitar. He is an
experienced performer on multiple instruments, most recently playing lead
guitar in a Rock/Pop cover band in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. Aside from
performing, he also has a keen interest in music history and theory.
Jamie currently teaches guitar at the International School
of Aberdeen, as well as privately, and is preparing to start his PGDE in
Secondary Music later this year. He is extremely passionate about all aspects of music and enjoys passing this enthusiasm on to his students, through fun and informative lessons.
